Our Surf school in Lagos was founded in 2005 by Sebastian and Michaela, who still run it today. It is their love for the outdoors and the ocean that brought them to Lagos. They surrounded themselves with a small team of surfers, kitesurfers and general sun-worshippers who fell in love with the Algarve and just want to share their stoke with you.

Our motto is simple: we want you to have the best possible time ever. We know how important your holiday is to you. You only get to go ever so often after all. So from the moment you arrive fresh off the plane we want you to enjoy every second of your stay with us. And when you depart you might be a little sunburned and sore, but definitely have a fat smile on your face!

With Extreme Algarve we strive to really bring everyone together. We get all sorts of travelers: from newly weds and forever friends to first time solo travelers. And it is always great to see those people from various ages, backgrounds and beliefs bond during their stay. No one gets left out, everyone is welcome. And when we see that happen, we know it is a job well done.

Lagos

Lagos is located in the south-western region of the Algarve. It’s a popular surf destination for many reasons. There is the location of course: close to the surf beaches on both the south and west coast. And it is a big town, full of restaurants, bars, and shops but not nearly as hectic as the more (in)famous tourist towns like Albufeira, Quarteira and Portimão.

Next to surfing there are tons of activities to be found around here. It’s the place to be for surfers who want to enjoy that typical relaxed and hot surf vibe that comes with the perfect surf destination.

Extreme Algarve’s lodge is centrally located in a quieter residential area just outside of the vibrant old town. With both the center and beaches only a short walk away and a selection of restaurants and small supermarkets right on our doorstep we couldn’t think of a better location for our tranquil getaway that goes by the name of Casa Offshore.

The Surf Spots

The south west corner of the Algarve is known for the great surf. It is one of the only places in the world where you can literally surf 365 days a year. (Make that 366 for leap years!)

The swell usually comes in from the north west and varies in height depending on the season. During summer it is often quite low, so we usually go to the more exposed beaches on the west coast like Arrifana and Amoreira.

Winter swells on the other hand, often deliver big waves on the west coast and make us find cover on the south coast. During those days, Lagos’s home beach Porto do Mos is a favorite spot. Or we explore the south coast a bit further in the direction of Sagres for beaches like Zavial. To top it off, the south east swells that come looking every once in a while, and mostly during summer, deliver the perfect surf right on our doorstep at Meia Praia beach. If you’re really lucky you might even be able to surf in board shorts on those days!
